The Violin and Lessons

Ever since I was a child I have loved music.
In elementary school I was required to play the Recorder, and did that until middle school, and I loved it. I played the ukulele for a short time as well in middle school. When I entered high school I tried to play the trumpet, and the clarinet, both horrible decisions, and a failure.
I had been singing since I was in grade 2 with the choir, and joined my church choir when I was around 13. Later in high school after going through two or three music teachers I learned piano, and the basic theory I should have known (all be it 8 years in 2 weeks, and it was awesome).
I have actually been out of connection with anything taught for at least a year or two.
In recent my inspiration has been Lindsey Stirling (check out her YouTube here). I have also always loved the violin. I purchased mine second hand, as a birthday/college program graduation & GPA goal met present. I have waited all summer for lessons, and started last night. I am doing good so far, and it sounds like notes coming from my violin not screeching kittens. I slammed my right hand pinkie in between my lock, and something on the locker so holding the bow tonight was a little difficult. I am going to have to get used to the placement, and I am taking the more rewarding, and harder route of learning the fingerboard placement, so it I isn't marked. I am also going to have to get used to holding it better as well.
I am super excited to learn, and I am just getting started.

I still have to name my violin, but this is me, and my baby.

Halloween 2011

I was kept so busy this past week working on Halloween stuff. Halloween is a huge even for the school. Every year there is a haunted house competition for all the studios, and usually the foundation year joins a studio since they don't usually get a place. This year was different; the foundation year got the student lounge, and worked with another studio which have a room in the other building which is still under construction. We did an Insane Asylum, and I got to be a guide. It was great fun though with our practice run through one of our zombies grabbed me, and I screamed. I wore my purple plaid Lolita outfit too. I also wore my glasses which I normally don't do with my Lolita outfits.
All the studios but two did a haunted house, and I went to two out of three, or four. They were really good. There were some great scares. There were other haunted houses in the city, and there was one I went to last year that was amazing but I didn't get to go to any other haunted houses. The only one I went through was the studio to win, and it was amazing. They did Fiber Hell as a theme.
Friday was Costume Contest Day. I was rather excited for this. I did a coordination Lolita of "Candy Princess." I wore my Metamorphose Candy Land Popping Balloons dress with the alice bow, socks, pink mary-janes, my wig, and a few other accessories that matched the theme. I even hunted down a cupcake shaped lollipop. I won most creative, and my roommate also won a title as well. This isn't a very flattering photo but it was the only one taken.
I watched the Nightmare Before Christmas on Friday evening with my roommates since I have never seen it before. I have to say I liked it. There are so many movies I haven't seen, because I never got to see them as a kid.
We went to a costume contest Saturday night, and it was great fun. Before this happened we had an episode of the downstairs cat escaping so we ran around in the dark looking for the cat which we eventually caught. I wore a maid costume, and I realized that it left black dye all around my waist, and where it stopped on my arms.
Did Trick-or-Eat Monday night on the official Halloween date. This was my first time attending the event. I only borrowed my roommate's cat ears. It was a lot of fun, and I was in an outside part of the city I have never been to before. Another group's route overlapped ours so we walked for a bit, and then got lost. We did make it back to the car, and dropped our food off, and then the bus came. I met some new people seeing as my roommate found us a group to join.
As of Friday it has officially been a year since I left university to follow something more my style, and that I got accepted to where I am currently going. I couldn't be happier. I have made some great new friends, and I am learning so much.
I got a new brand of contact lenses, and they are a lot more comfortable. They are easier to insert, but I find them quite difficult to remove. I even have new cleaning solution with a contraption that scares me. It is mostly the solution, because I have seen, and heard the horror stories of the solution. I might be able to get coloured lenses, and my doctor will look into it. I am so happy, I may be limited to colour, but oh well. All the time my hopes go up, and down with this subject it gets really hard sometimes but I haven't given up yet.
Now it is time to let my body rest as I am beginning to get sick. I still have to focus on schoolwork though.

Ceramics Update, and Motivation

So far I am thoroughly enjoying ceramics. I had a small taste of it in high school but I did not enjoy it than, and made quite the atrocious looking teapot. I hated hand throwing at that point, but now I have a better grasp of it. I have done three textured masks, two Jomon pots (pots excavated from Japan, oldest in history), one soft slab vessel, and I am currently working on another which is going to be the reproduction of my ugly teapot from high school. These will be glazed, and hopefully posted after I finish them. From there I will learn a little wheel throwing.
We have seven weeks of each media, and I am really enjoying ceramics. I have another five to do; Graphic Design, Photography, Fashion Design, Textiles, and Jewelry/Metal Working. I am initially going to this school in hopes of Fashion Design, but I am open to the chance I might like something else better. Second semester we have two medias at once.
So the form I filled out wrong, I filled out wrong a second time. It is getting irksome because you would think after three years I would be able to fill out these forms... Apparently I can't.
I have been able to keep rather busy with my homework, and now I work both Saturday, and Sunday because I am the only Customer Sales Assistant left because everyone else has left, or have been fired in the most unprofessional way ever.
I wish I could have been this motivated a lot sooner sometimes but I realize this was the way it was meant to be. I love where I live. (Minus the issues with the one roommate living with me, and underneath me). This city has so much opportunity in it, and amazing schools.

The Week is Almost Done, But About to Begin for Myself

So I have a few things after me at the moment.
DHL once again has pulled the old brokerage, but this time under a different company. Also Mount Allison wants their money, but I was told I only had to pay the penalty... They sent me the statement, and I just looked at it, guess where I am going tomorrow after work...
Visited the high school yesterday. It is so hard to visit the high school because most of the teachers I had left.
Also went to Tim Horton's with a friend before hand. Love going out for hot chocolate, or coffee.
Going back to church Sunday!!!! Making sure I go!
Apparently doing something else Friday night instead of Midnight Madness, change of plans. Going to the city with a friend.
Looking forward to the weekend.

I Have a Little Bit of a Life at the Moment

Currently Reading: Sense & Sensibility by: Jane Austen
Last Movie Watched: Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Last Television Show Watched: The Cake Boss
Current Video Game: World of Warcraft

Working full-time does not mean I have a set schedule, it just means I work 3-5 at least 8 hour shifts if not more with smaller shifts. It leaves me time to sleep, and not do much else. But I got to do stuff this weekend.
I had a girl's night with my friend, and her mom. We watched the Prince, and Me 1, and 2. They should have used the same actors for the second one, the first one was better. We also watched Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle which is full of fake stunts.
They have a chinchilla, and I am in love with them now. I really like them, they aren't as annoying as guinea pigs.
Did some art. Watched Cake Boss, his cakes are amazing! Also watched Gimme Sugar Miami, which was interesting.
I have to read Half Blood Prince, and the Deathly Hallows from the Harry Potter series. I rather read the books, and then watch the movies. I read/watched Order of the Phoenix last because I remember crying when they killed Sirius.
I am so happy I have time to read, and what not. Also play WoW. One of my friend's wants me at Level 80.
This week I plan on visiting my high school to see the art teacher, getting my contacts on Friday because that is the only day the optometrist is open, and going to Midnight Madness Friday night. Might go have hot chocolate some night.
I am working on thinking out costumes for next year. I really want to do Kobato Hanato, from Kobato, but she has so many outfit choices.

So....

So I paid a visit to my high school today to see if my transcripts were sent... They were sent on the 14th of September, and it is now October 18th... Where are they?!
I am going back tomorrow to see if I can get a copy faxed to the number I got when I called admissions this morning... This is really irritating.
I have not yet officially drop out, as far as the university is concerned, but I am going to do that tomorrow too I suppose. Busy, busy me... Blah.
