Interesting Long Weekend

In one week I got my GST, and my Student Loan which is great.
I have been having a great time with the friends I made at school. The problem is when I am with friends I tend to put off my homework, so I skipped Ceramics Friday, and got caught up in all my classes. I also went in on Monday, and finished a project with help because I was cutting mat board, and made some bowls for ceramics. I am glad that this week is the final ceramics class. I had a random elevator ride with the drawing teacher who sang the entire time, and they could hear him on the third floor.
Went out for food Friday night with my roommate, and some others, and most places had a wait. We went to East Side Mario's first, and then Boston Pizza, after calling a few places we decided to stay a Boston Pizza for food, and had a great time.
I got to have Thanksgiving dinner with a friend, her grandparents, and two other people. I would rather have had it with family, but I was told not to come home by my father, and my family where I currently live haven't contacted me since I moved....
Should mention I finally have a small television in my room that I bought from a roommate. Now I can play video games, and watch movies in my room. <3 One of us has to get a mini fridge because our fridge is not big enough for everyone.
Work was quite dead this weekend. No one really wants to buy a suit on a long weekend. We did have a lot of tuxedo returns though.

Busy Weeks

I got help on the throwing wheel this week from a studio tech, and I can now somewhat do it, and I am ecstatic that I can now do it better. I went to my drawing teacher's gallery opening, and I went to another gallery opening of another teacher in the school. They both do amazing work. This week I am going to go have lunch with the dean of the school, and an artist talk with Peter Gibson, a Canadian Graffiti artist from Montreal. It is going to be a great week. Assessment week is coming up soon, and I have no idea what to expect the teachers to say about my work. I am absolutely terrified for it.
I am unfortunately still waiting a while on money from Student Loans. Once again it is a good thing I decided to call, or I would have been screwed for a longer period of time....
I mostly work on the weekends which can be very boring, but it was very busy this weekend due to a buy one, get one free. We are also having another one later in the month.
I picked up my pre-ordered copy of Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns for the DS, and got my little alpaca plushie. I absolutely love the game, but they are getting harder, and harder to play as I love the old system better. I do love the concept of befriending animals which they kept from Animal Parade. The alpaca wasn't as big as I thought it would be, but I still love it anyways.
My iPod is not working properly, and I will have to replace the audio jack in the bottom which I have no clue how to do. I got my Father to ship me my good old Zune, and ordered a new sync cable since my old one doesn't work. I am going to be glad when all that gets here I loved it way more than my iPod. I also uninstalled anything by Apple on my computer; I am not really a big fan of them anyways.

Ceramics Update, and Motivation

So far I am thoroughly enjoying ceramics. I had a small taste of it in high school but I did not enjoy it than, and made quite the atrocious looking teapot. I hated hand throwing at that point, but now I have a better grasp of it. I have done three textured masks, two Jomon pots (pots excavated from Japan, oldest in history), one soft slab vessel, and I am currently working on another which is going to be the reproduction of my ugly teapot from high school. These will be glazed, and hopefully posted after I finish them. From there I will learn a little wheel throwing.
We have seven weeks of each media, and I am really enjoying ceramics. I have another five to do; Graphic Design, Photography, Fashion Design, Textiles, and Jewelry/Metal Working. I am initially going to this school in hopes of Fashion Design, but I am open to the chance I might like something else better. Second semester we have two medias at once.
So the form I filled out wrong, I filled out wrong a second time. It is getting irksome because you would think after three years I would be able to fill out these forms... Apparently I can't.
I have been able to keep rather busy with my homework, and now I work both Saturday, and Sunday because I am the only Customer Sales Assistant left because everyone else has left, or have been fired in the most unprofessional way ever.
I wish I could have been this motivated a lot sooner sometimes but I realize this was the way it was meant to be. I love where I live. (Minus the issues with the one roommate living with me, and underneath me). This city has so much opportunity in it, and amazing schools.

Hurricane Irene & The Beginning of Classes

Last time I was going to post I was logged out, and I lost everything so here we go again.
I will start my post off by saying Irene is probably the worst hurricane I have seen in years, and where I live we were right at the edge of that path. I have been in a lesser hurricane like that, and thought it would be nothing. We lost power around 11 Sunday night. My roommates, and I lit candles, and hung around in the living room. We ended up camping there that night. Having no electricity, and lacking food that could be eaten as is, the next day we ordered food from an amazing pizzeria. We finally got the power back Tuesday evening thankfully.
I am setting my priorities straight, and have managed to really organize myself for the year which will be really helpful. I have set goals, and plans to get everything done in a timely, and less stressful manner.
I started class Tuesday, and thankfully we only had two classes with icebreaker introductions of ourselves. I hate speaking aloud. My favourite class so far is Colour study, we are going to using Gouache paints, but I don't really know how I feel about those at the moment. I also have History, 2D Design, Drawing, Communications, and Ceramics (only seven weeks). I like the History class because it is set up like a university course where you have lecture than tutourial. The Communications class is a grammar, and how to use Microsoft Office, and since I was in high school I have taken several courses with that as the component, and the same with one university course, it just won't leave me alone!
I made a new friend which is surprising, and different for nervous, and shy me. She is very nice, and we have History together. I thought I wouldn't make any friends because I didn't really make any friends at university because they were all fake.
I am unfortunately on year three of annoyance with Student Loans. I have never been so irritated. They never even contacted me to tell me that I had filled out part of my form wrong. I am also currently working on all their forms that I have to fill out.
